The holidays are approaching at warp speeds and for some parents that means questions. If you have never played paintball or just don’t know that much about it, it can be difficult to buy gifts for family members. If you are completely clueless as to what to buy for an up and coming paintballer, this is going to be a really quick guide as to what a few of the items are and what to buy.
Tank: The tank is what holds either the CO2 or Compressed Air (you cannot put CO2 in a Compressed air tank) This what propels the paintballs out of the Marker/Gun
Marker/Gun: Marker is just another term for the paintball gun. This may sound a little confusing but, just think of it for exactly what it does. Marks things with paint.
Hopper: This is what goes on top of most Markers to hold the extra paintballs. Most Hoppers hold around 200 paintballs.
Barrel: This is just the same as any other gun, it is what guides the paintball as it is propelled from the gun.
Harness: We sell harness that go around the waist of the player to hold excess paintballs in pods/tubes.
Pods/tubes: These are accessories that can hold a varying amount of extra paintballs, they are usually stored in a harness and can be quickly opened and poured into hoppers.
Mask: This is one of the most important things that you can buy. There are a myriad of masks to choose from and have a range in prices from around 15.00 to 200.00. The main differences are comfortability, coverage, lens type and bounce (the ability to have a paintball bounce instead of break)
Remote: a remote or coiled remote is something that can help younger players because it is a line that you hook into the end of the gun and runs to the harness where you will be storing your tank. The reason this helps is because it takes the weight from the hands to the body. This is great for younger players who can’t handle the weight of the tank and gun for extended periods of time.
Brands: There are tons of brands that you can choose from for certain items. When it comes to beginners I think the best brands for Markers is going to be Tippmann Paintball. The best brand for accessories and tanks would be 3Skull. For beginners I wouldn’t go with the most expensive or even the best of some items because the player needs to learn how to play before spending a lot of money on the items.
Now, if you just want to buy your friend or family member a package that come with almost everything they need to just go out the next day and play the game then you are in luck. There are packages that have everything needed. If you go to the Ultimate Paintball website there is a whole section for paintball packages. Checkout the Tippmannn 98 Custom and Tippmann Cronus Packages.
If you don’t like those two sets you are welcomed to check out the hundreds of others that we have but, those are definitely the best sets for beginners.
